Competition is driven by emotion – nobody will compete for something he does not want or is not passionate about. By keeping a blank face, you minimize risks of them guessing what cards you have. Another benefit is keeping your mind clear, a task which boosts your judgment. A poker face influences you to be rational and logical about your game. Letting your emotions get the better of you clouds your judgment, which results in emotionally-driven decisions which are neither strategic nor beneficial. Admittedly, it is impossible to be unemotional when casino gambling, but learning to control emotional impulses is a must if you expect to win.
